Animal-Welfare Education for Veterinary Students

David Main, Lecturer in Animal Welfare at the Department of Clinical Veterinary Science at the University of Bristol says “Although the veterinary curriculum is under continual pressure, the drivers (policy makers, student expectations, and trade requirements) for including animal welfare in the course are likely to increase. Some core components of an animal-welfare course are important to include in all veterinary curriculums. This would include an appreciation of the difference between welfare science, ethics, and standards.”
